Outlook for 2008

THE 3 V’S - VALUE, VISIBILITY AND VOLUME

In 2008 the Silicon Trust will have the following strategic goals:

Value

• Increase the outreach of the Silicon Trust program for those who want to be associated with it.
• We aim to achieve this by introducing new events (such as the Consultants Day), driving forward change in industry “problem areas” (such as the topic of interoperability) and the possibility of providing members with Tender information.

Visibility

• Increase visibility of the Silicon Trust in the public sector and industry, across the whole value chain.
• We aim to achieve this by introducing a bi-monthly News Feed - The Silicon Trust Security Scan, submitting articles to trade publications, issuing Press Releases and increasing our presence at industry shows.

Volume

• Increase both volume and quality of members with Key Players from the industry and individuals associated with the Silicon Trust.
• We will be actively recruiting new companies/organizations to compliment the membership and developing a Community environment.

MAIN FOCUS AREAS FOR 2008

In order to ensure concrete achievements within the year, the Program will target specific application areas and focus the activities accordingly.

• Field trial test and interoperability programs in national eID/eGov in Europe
• First field trial test in eDriving License in Europe
• Transition phase to ePassport with fingerprints (EAC framework) - lessons learned on implementation and interoperability, worldwide
• Development of National Identification schemes worldwide – specifically Africa, Asia and Latin America
• eHealth programs on national and international level -  focus on Europe
